Maritime Clinic

Above and beyond familiarity with health and safety hazards at land-based and onshore environment, we are familiar with health and safety hazards at sea and offshore environment, and fully understand that the purpose of PEME and PME are to evaluate whether a person is “fit for a seafaring / offshore working career (pre-sea medical examination)” or “fit to return to sea (periodic medical examination & post sickness-injury medical examination)”.

Maritime Health fitness certificate of Assa’adah Medical Centre is neither a certificate of general health nor a certification of the absence of illness. It is a confirmation that the seafarer / offshore crew:
• Have the physical capability to fulfill all the requirements of basic training as required by Section A-VI/1 of STCW;
• Demonstrate adequate vision and hearing to detect any visual and audible alarms;
• Is expected to be able to meet the minimum requirements for performing the routine and emergency duties specific to their post at sea safely and effectively during the period of validity of the health fitness certificate.
